Students are encouraged to seek financial assistance from their home institutions and other sources that might be available. Possible funding sources include:

Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships (FLAS):
For further information, please inquire with your home institution.
The UIUC students can now apply to a summer FLAS through the Global Studies Center, and European Union Center at the UIUC.

Foreign Language Enhancement Program (FLEP):
This program provides scholarships to graduate students at CIC institutions willing to study a language that is not offered at their home university. FLEP fellowships are available only for study at another CIC institution. For further information, please consult: FLEP. Apparently this source has stopped its funding currently but you may check their web site that has links to other funding sources.
